Looking Back at the 14th International Fatigue Congress: Innovation, Open Data, & FABER Milestones
Reflecting on an incredible week in Madeira for the 14th edition of the International Fatigue Congress! It was a fantastic opportunity to take in so many insightful talks, share new research, and catch up with colleagues, friends, and fellow researchers.
During the event, our WG1 Leader Kris Hectors co-chaired the session “Fatigue Model Verification and Validation – FABER Perspective” alongside our Action chair – Jan Papuga.
Kris also had the opportunity to present the latest work, titled “Asymmetric Energy Damage Curve Approach for Notched Components under Variable Amplitude Rotating Bending.”

A Major Milestone: FABER is Growing!
The congress also marked a massive milestone for our community – FABER is no longer a small network; we officially crossed the 306-member mark!
With this growing collective expertise, we are aiming to initiate a profound change in how new fatigue estimation models are introduced.
What’s next? Get ready for the FABEST competition on the best fatigue estimation. Keep an eye out, as we will be sharing more details right here very soon!
A few of us managed to gather during the congress to capture the moment (and show off the leaflet in our hands!).
